Thankful for Thanksgiving

The holidays are a wonderful time to reconnect with what’s important, not only

because it’s the tradition but we get an extra day off to do so!

In the tradition of Thanksgiving, we’d like to take some time to be thankful.

This year we’d like to share some of the things we at Black Tie office feel grateful for:

  • Wonderful, trusting and kind customers (new and old)
  • Hard working and dedicated team we can count on
  • Another year without accidents (knock on wood…)
  • Continued growth in business
  • You! … for reading this blog

This year, what are YOU grateful for?

If the holidays get you down, or you are feeling depressed, a very effective way to get out of the dumps is to open your heart and give.  This may seem like the last thing you want to do but trust me it does works.  Often helping others who are less fortunate or are in need, will help us to realize that we don’t have it that bad.  Especially knowing we all go through our ups and downs.

There are many ways you can do this: reaching out to a friend, doing something nice for someone who doesn’t expect it, giving something to someone who needs it…  If you are looking for a more structured approach there are food drives to which you can donate cash, food, and/or volunteer your time. And with today’s technology, you don’t even have to leave the comfort of your home to donate – To make a donation online to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank, click here. You can also make a donation by phone at 778-945-0030 or toll-free at 1-(855)-215-6933.

The public is invited to drop off non-perishable food items or donations between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. at the Global BC studios at 7850 Enterprise Street in Burnaby, or at the Shaw Tower located at 1067 West Cordova Street in downtown Vancouver.

“Did you know that The Greater Vancouver Food Bank helps 28,000 people a week through it’s food depots? 26% of those are children and 18 percent are seniors. There’s been a 5 percent increase in the number of people accessing the food bank over the past year.” http://globalnews.ca/news/878159/global-bc-thanksgiving-food-bank-drive-takes-place-october-10/

Warm wishes for a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday with your loved ones.

With love from the Black Tie Family,

Gobble Gobble …Gutters!

Hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving weekend!

As the autumn leaves fall and the season is changing, now is the perfect time to start proactively planning the gutter clean for your properties while it is still bright out. Fall gutter cleaning is an important way to prepare for Vancouver’s rainy season which will be here before we know it. Did you know that regardless of what gutter system you’ve used, all gutter systems should be examined for cleaning and repair 2 times a year?

Even if you are unsure as to whether or not it is time to book your cleaning, feel free to contact us for a free quote. At Black Tie, we have a team of dedicated technicians, who would be happy to come and look at your property, honestly assess your cleaning needs and recommend the best gutter solution for you.

Prevention is the best medicine. Gutters must be maintained regularly to remove leaves and other debris and to keep them draining properly. If maintenance is neglected, your gutters may become clogged and can lead to a host of other problems that can get quite costly in the long run.

Clogged gutters can:

  • Cause water leakages, damaging roof shingles and landscaping below.
  • Lead to stagnant water build up which allows grasses and weeds to grow in the gutter (Now, That doesn’t look pretty!).
  • Overflow and soak the foundation leading to damage to roof structures

The Black Tie Rx:

Call us and we will personally come by to assess your gutter situation and determine whether debris removal is handled better by hand or by high powered vacuum. Once the debris is removed, we will haul it away so you don’t need to deal with it. After, we rinse the downspouts and check to ensure that there is proper drainage and flow. As  value added services, we can also clean the gutter faces, removing dirt and algae, and can perform minor repairs, ensuring your gutter system will be in tip-top shape to handle our famous Vancouver downpours. If you need your gutters cleaned and inspected, give us a call at 604-629-9055 or email us here. Please feel free to let us know of any additional questions or concerns.

We look forward to speaking with you and impressing you with our services!
